Hours of Operation:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. (Francis House is not open on Wednesday)
9 am — 12 pm and 1 pm — 3 pm

Direct Services:

Doors open exactly at 9 am. Clients will be expected to fill out a short daily intake, and service order will be based on the requested service.

DMV Voucher for CA-ID:
Please bring documentation with your name on it showing you are currently receiving government benefits (i.e. EBT card, MediCal card, Notice of Action/DHA printout, Social Security award letter) to be eligible for a reduced fee voucher.

Bus Pass:
One bus pass is given every seven days for verifiable medical, dental, or court appointments. Verifiable meaning a written, email, text or voicemail confirmation of the appointment.

Hygiene Kits:
Essential toiletry items are available upon request during normal hours of operation.

Clothing Donation Center:
Must have a Valid ID to enter. Up to 10 items per visit, one visit per calendar month. Open: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 9 am to 12 pm.

Sacramento County Homeless Housing Programs

Access to Next Move Homeless Services’ Permanent Supportive Housing programs as well as other county programs are through county referral only. In order to start the process please call 2-1-1 (1-800-500-4931 or 916-498-1000). They will ask you some questions about your situation, and if you quality, they will schedule you for an appointment at an Access Point for an assessment.

Motel Vouchers

CalWORKS

The CalWORKs Homeless Assistance (HA) Program was established to help families in the CalWORKs program with emergency shelter when a family is experiencing homelessness. CalWorks HA program serves eligible CalWORKs recipients or apparently eligible CalWORKs applicants, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. CalWORKS Temporary HA can provide payments for temporary shelter for up to 16 days. Families experiencing homelessness should go into a DHA office (except 1725 28th Street) to get assessed for Homeless Assistance.

The Salvation Army

Motel vouchers are available once per year and eligibility is based on need, place of residence, income and hardship of individuals or families. No walk-ins, call for intake and eligibility.

Traveler's Aid

Provides motel vouchers to homeless families with minor children in crisis. Must have a monthly income. Telephone only, no walk-ins.

The Diversion Program

This program provides assistance with utilities, first month’s rent, or eviction avoidance to low income families. Application process necessary.

  • Rental Assistance – to qualify for first month’s rental assistance or eviction avoidance, you must have a 3-day pay or quit notice
  • Utility Assistance – to qualify for assistance with SMUD or PG&E you must have a final, 48-hour, or 15-day shut-off notice.

To complete an application for Diversion Support please come to Francis House Center during our hours of operation.

Homeless Verification and Birth Certificate Affidavits for Homeless Individuals

Francis House Center does not currently verify homelessness as a 3rd Party. Birth certificate fee waiver affidavits are available to any homeless individual who can provide 3rd Party verification or proof of currently living in a homeless shelter.

"New Eyes" Eye Glass Voucher Park

Low-income and homeless individuals are eligible to receive one free pair of eyeglasses per year. You must be able to provide:

  • A recent eyeglass prescription from the last 12 months
  • Your pupillary distance measurement
  • Proof of income
